I. Application Conditions
(I) Applicants must be in good health, of good character, willing to comply with Chinese laws and regulations as well as the regulations of Fuzhou University, and respect social moral and customs in China.
(II) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with valid ordinary passports, be friendly to China, and have no criminal record abroad.
(III) Applicants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan who have emigrated to foreign countries should have a valid foreign passport and a certificate of naturalization for more than 4 years (including 4 years). Besides, there should be records that he or she has actually resided overseas for more than 2 years within the recent 4 years (before April 30 of the freshman year) (Residence period of above 9 months but less than one year can be deemed as one year, which is subject to entry and exit stamps).
(IV) Applicants should have a basic knowledge of Chinese. Applicants should obtain the HSK6 certificate in principle. Colleges, if qualified, may offer a postgraduate major with English as a medium of instruction. Students of English-medium instruction are required to have a TOEFL score of 85 or above, or an IELTS score of 6.5 and should obtain the HSK3 certificate or higher.
Applicants who received higher education with English as the medium of instruction should submit the English-medium instruction certificate issued by the university they graduate from. Applicants from countries with English as the official language are exempted from submitting an English proficiency certificate. The above two types of applicants should have a basic knowledge of Chinese and obtain a HSK3 certificate or above.
(V) Education Background and Age Limit:
i. Applicants for master’s degree studies shall be domestic or foreign undergraduates of the last academic year or obtain domestic and foreign bachelor's degree or above (The bachelor's degree shall be a degree recognized by the Chinese government, and undergraduates of the last academic year must attach a graduation certification issued by the international student administration of the university. For graduates, a Graduation Certificate and a Degree Certificate should be submitted along with the Notarized Certificate of the country or region where they are enrolled). The applicants should be under 35 years old in principle.
ii. Applicants for doctor’s degree studies shall be domestic or foreign postgraduates of the last academic year or obtain domestic and foreign master's degree or above (The master's degree shall be a degree recognized by the Chinese government, and undergraduates of the last academic year must submit a graduation certification issued by the international student administration of the university. For graduates, a Graduation Certificate and a Degree Certificate should be submitted along with the Notarized Certificate of the country or region where they are enrolled). The applicants should be under 40 years old in principle.

iii. Three pieces of recently-taken two inch half-length, bareheaded, full-faced color photos (white background, applicant’s name in the back)
iv. The notarized photocopy of the highest diploma and academic certificate (Undergraduates and graduate students of the last academic year must submit a graduation certification issued by the international student administration of the university)
v. The notarized photocopy of transcripts
vi. Applicants for master's degree or doctor’s degree studies should provide recommendation letters from two associate professors or experts with equivalent titles or above.
vii. The photocopy of the HSK Certificate or an English Level Certificate
viii. One piece of personal statement of not less than 1,000 Chinese characters or English words, which should include:Relevant education or work experience, special achievements, etc.; research capacity and other abilities; applicants for doctor’s degree studies need to submit a work summary of master's thesis research (highlighting the innovations), and the proposed research interests and ideas for doctor’s degree studies; you may list one or two supervisors you want to choose.

IV. Qualification Review and Admission
(I) Preliminary review. After receiving the application materials, we will have a preliminary review of the materials to see whether you meet the registration requirements and whether the materials are complete and valid (Applicants submitting incomplete or fraudulent materials are not eligible for application). And the qualified materials will be forwarded to the Graduate Admissions Office for academic capacity review by the related school.
(II) Review by School. Each school of Fuzhou University shall organize experts to carefully review the applicant's professional basis, education background, work and research experience and achievements, recommendation letters, and study/research plan for doctor’s degree and master's degree studies. And in the case of sufficient student resources, a list of recommendations for finalists will be submitted according to a certain difference. The review should focus on the assessment of the applicant's basic expertise, the ability to apply expertise comprehensively, logical thinking ability, innovation ability, research potential, etc. The retest of science and engineering majors should focus on the assessment of how well candidates have acquired the knowledge of college mathematics and physics. The related school decides and notify the candidates separately of the assessment methods and content.
(III) Admission. The list of prospective candidates confirmed by each school will be reviewed by the College Admissions Leading Group before being sent to the Graduate Admissions Office to determine the final admissions list based on the opinions of the school. The Foreign Affairs Department handles the visa application procedures according to the final admissions list and makes the Acceptance Letter.
V. Enrollment and Registration
International students who have been admitted should enroll with the Student Visa and the Acceptance Letter. The exact date for enrollment and registration is subject to the date specified on the Acceptance Letter. The originals of the diploma, the degree certificate, the transcripts, and the physical examination report should be submitted for qualification review. Students who cannot provide the originals of the relevant certificates or provide falsified materials, if found out, will be disqualified and prohibited from registration. If students are unable to study properly due to pregnancy or major illness, then his or her schooling will be suspended or discontinued in principle. If students are unable to enroll on time due to special reasons, then he or she must request a leave of absence in advance and put the request in writing; otherwise he or she will be disqualified.
VI. Duration of Programs
The duration of full-time postgraduate programs is generally 2-3 years; the duration of full-time doctoral programs is generally 3-4 years. For detailed information, check the education programs of different majors.
VII. Tuition FeesMaster's degree: 20,000 yuan/academic year (RMB), master of fine arts: 30,000 yuan/academic year (RMB);Doctor’s degree: 25,000 yuan/academic year (RMB).
Tuition fees are charged every academic year based on the duration of programs.
VIII. Degree
International students who have gained the required number of credits, passed thesis defenses, and met the degree conferring requirements of our university will be awarded a master's degree or a doctor’s degree and a corresponding degree certificate.
